The butterfly has come to be symbolic for us. It represents the transformed body and life Emily now has. This butterfly was a special gift from a friend. We placed it at Emily's grave.

Emily was one of a kind. She was not defined by her Down syndrome or her illnesses but by the love she offered to family and friends. Although originally created to communicate her health status to prayer warriors, this blog is now a tribute to the impact she had on our lives.

Thanks for Loving Emily
Those who risked getting to know someone who was "different" were rewarded by discovering that Emily wasn't that different after all. Maybe the biggest difference was that, because life was simpler for her, she knew what was ultimately most important and focused her life on that -- making others feel loved. We are humbled to have had that gift. Thank you for experiencing Emily with us.
