Emily was one of a kind. She was not defined by her Down syndrome or her illnesses but by the love she offered to family and friends. Although originally created to communicate her health status to prayer warriors, this blog is now a tribute to the impact she had on our lives.

Thanks for Loving Emily
Those who risked getting to know someone who was "different" were rewarded by discovering that Emily wasn't that different after all. Maybe the biggest difference was that, because life was simpler for her, she knew what was ultimately most important and focused her life on that -- making others feel loved. We are humbled to have had that gift. Thank you for experiencing Emily with us.

I have been following the blog for weeks, and I wanted you to know we are praying for you all. Thanks for letting us know about the blog. We are going to see Ma and Richard and Janet today. We came up from Lubbock to meet Mom and Dad. We're going together this afternoon. We'll keep praying for all of you. Love, Karen

My family, church, and the staff at the school where I teach have been praying for Emily and the rest of your family since I learned she had been admitted to the hospital. I pray you will feel God's presence as you face these difficult days. Your family, especially Emily, has been a great testimony to Christ's love and faith. We will continue to pray for all of you.

Sam, Sonja and family,
What a tremendous inspiration you all have been to me! Your scriptures and the beautiful song have touched my heart. I have been reading about Emily for a couple of weeks...she is one courageous young lady!!! Not only Emily...but the whole family. I can see God's grace working!!!! I'm praying that Zach will be Emily's match for the bone marrow. I've told Connie that if I would be a match...I certainly would do it. But I just read what the doctor told you about others donating. So I will continue to pray for Emily and the family, trusting God to perform another miracle. "Nothing is impossible for God"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw Emily almost first thing every morning at FMS. She would be getting off the bus as I was putting my children on to go to FES. She ALWAYS had her signature beads! I really don't know why I began calling her Little Miss Sunshine. I guess because every morning I saw her she brought a smile to my face. I would say "HI, Little Miss Sunshine" and she would come and give me my morning hug. After a while, she would give me a hug everytime she saw me throughout the day! I am sure I speak for many when I say that she will truly be missed at FMS. I know I will think of her daily when standing outside at the bus line. I only knew Emily for a couple of years, but she left me with many wonderful memories. God Bless you all and know that you continue to be in our prayers.
