This sign we ran across in San Diego reminded us of Emily because "Little Miss Sunshine" was one of her nicknames at school.

Emily was one of a kind. She was not defined by her Down syndrome or her illnesses but by the love she offered to family and friends. Although originally created to communicate her health status to prayer warriors, this blog is now a tribute to the impact she had on our lives.

Thanks for Loving Emily
Those who risked getting to know someone who was "different" were rewarded by discovering that Emily wasn't that different after all. Maybe the biggest difference was that, because life was simpler for her, she knew what was ultimately most important and focused her life on that -- making others feel loved. We are humbled to have had that gift. Thank you for experiencing Emily with us.

My thoughts and prayers are with all who love and miss your precious Angel Emily. I can clearly tell how much joy your darling daughter brought into your lives, Emily was beautiful from the inside and out, her picture truly captured my heart such a sweet little girl. Emily's story touched my heart such a little fighter an inspiration to all. This is a wonderful tribute you have created in honor of your precious Angel. I wish there where something that I could say to ease your heartache, Having my own precious angel I feel your heartache and emptiness everyday, I only pray that you find some comfort knowing that others care and will remember you beautiful daughter Emily.
