Jiggy & Josie (Emily's Neighborhood Buddies)

These twin neighborhood labs were loyal friends to Emily, escorting her to and from her bus stop every school day. Our neighbors told us that, while Emily was in the hospital those last 6 weeks, these dogs stayed on our deck and porch. When we returned home, they were there to greet us. They miss Emily, too.

Dogs are very smart and intuitive. Jiggy & Josy know that Emily still lives in you. Love them the way that Emily did :)

I just wanted to let you know that I am still praying for your family. I know the days are still hard but I know that God will get you through this. I have the bulletin from the service on my computer table sitting up so when I am on the computer at home I see Emily, and even though I wasn't lucky enough to know her I see the joy in her eyes and I can see her in heaven running and playing with her beads like I saw in the video. It amazes me that a person I never met could touch my life so much, I guess that is one of the wonders of God.

God be with you!

Continuing to pray for you as you miss your daughter. Although I didn't know Emily I love to see the pictures of her smiling face. Love in Christ, Dave and Carol Holtzhouse

I pass by Emily's picture on the bulletin board every night I work and love to see her smiling at me. Those of us that were privileged to take care of her often remember funny things she did or said. Emily has sure brought a lot of love and laughter to our hearts. And she was so lucky to have had a loving family surround her. We nurses all had a soft spot in particular for Emily.

It was so nice to see you at Relay for Life! I am sorry that I didn't have the opportunity to talk with you longer. It is hard to believe that it has been almost five months since my uncle and Emily went home to be with Jesus. As strange as this may sound, I think a lot about them passing on the same night. My uncle passes at 6:42 and I often think that maybe he was there to meet Emily. This has been a comforting thought to me as I think of them. It amazes me how people are connected...not knowing one another and then in some remarkable way you become connected. In honor of Emily, I will wear "her" beads on Tuesday to celebrate her life! She will always be my Little Miss Sunshine...she definitely brought sunshine to my life! Thank you for sharing Emily with us! God Bless!
Love,
Susan Boyd

Hey Sam,

We will be praying for you, especially on the 27th. While I agree that we can focus on life and knowing that Emily and we have an eternal life, I want to encourage you to give yourself and your family permission to mourn.

God Bless,

Bill Evans

I love the updated blog. We posted the poem Madison wrote for the DAR contest. She won first place in the county. I wanted so badly to be in Virginia with you all on Emily's birthday. It grieves my heart that I can't be there to hold Sonja. I will see you all in June.

Wow - 5 months already. In a way it seems longer.

I'll be sure to say an extra prayer for you guys on Tuesday and I'll be thinking about Emily all throughout the day! What a wonderful life Emily had here for 13 years. I can't think of a family to better care for her than YOU GUYS! God certainly knew what He was doing!

I know you still miss Emily and so do I but I am sooooo happy for her! I know my Mother has already met Emily and they are probably off frolicking on some cloud. If you think I love kids, you should have met my mother! So, I know Emily is in good hands!

Love you all ~

Love you all so much

I went to bed and awoke with Emily on my mind. When I close my eyes, I can envision her having the celebration of her life before our King. She is whole and happy twirling beads made of gold! Who could ask for anything more?! Happy Birthday, Emily!

God Bless the earthly family who loved her dearly. May the love of not only Jiggy & Josy constantly remind you, Sam & Sonja, of your special blessing from above, but also the many who voiced and continue to voice how she touched their lives in some small way.

Love,
Maria

Happy Birthday, Emily!! Please know your light is carried on in our little Jasmine! She is our adopted daughter, who has Down syndrome.

Sam and Sonja, I can only imagine how peaceful it must be knowing you can celebrate this day with the sparkle of life that Emily was! I wish I could have met her personally. Rest knowing that your example through these last six months has been inspiring to me as a Mom and fellow believer!

I pray your day is full of love and reflection!

I just listened to the "Song of Love" and as I sang along I twirled my purple beads. No one twirls them as well as Emily could. I'll wear them all day to celebrate Emily's birthday. You're in my prayers and thoughts
Love you Sam, Sonja, Zachary, Megan and Abigail. Looking forward to seeing you soon.
